Annual library festival to be held in Newburyport

The Newburyport Library Festival will be held next month for its 19th year.

This festival is a celebration of literature, from biography and non-fiction to poetry and fiction, and features readings from authors, panel discussions, and book signings that will take place in historic locations across Newburyport.

Banner printing can be used around town to make residents aware of special events like this one.

The festival will last three days, and will open with an event at the Firehouse Center for the Arts.

Former Newburyport Daily News editor, Richard Lodge, will host a conversation with Ghlee Woodworth, Dyke Hendrickson and Bethany Groff Dorau, all of whom are local historians. This talk promises to celebrate the community and includes perspectives from the past as well as the present, along with anecdotes, historical milestones, and a great deal of discussion. It will begin at 6:00pm.

The next day will feature an entire day of readings by authors and book signings, which will take place in person. The last will be virtual, and will also have readings by authors and book signings.

Among the famous authors who have called Newburyport their home are Edna St. Vincent Millay, John Greenleaf Whittier, and Andre Dubus II. The event is made possible by the founding sponsors, the Institution for Savings and Newburyport Bank.

The festival will run from Friday, 26 through Sunday, 28 April.
