Newburyport announces new head of its water system
Peter King has been appointed as the new Water Treatment Plant Operations Superintendent for the city of Newburyport.

King has demonstrated success in the management of municipal water resources and is committed to serving the public. In this role, he will supervise the daily operations of the Water Division, lead planning efforts that are long term in nature, manage regulatory compliance, and ensure that water service remains reliable for the residents of Newburyport.
Mayor Sean Reardon said that King has been part of the team at Water Treatment since 2015 and he expressed his confidence that he will thrive as superintendent. Reardon added that King has extensive experience with the city’s distribution systems, improvement projects, and treatment facilities, which ensures that the water of the city will remain safe.
Jon Carey, Interim Director of Public Services, said that King has a strong hands-on background in water treatment and over 10 years of intimate knowledge of the Newburyport Water System.
King expressed his honor at becoming the Water Treatment Operations Superintendent, with over 19 years of technical experience in the field. He said that his team is dedicated to providing high-quality drinking water for the community and that he is looking forward to working closely with the city, the mayor, and his colleagues to upholding the mandate of the Newburyport Water Works.
