A year of “Connection and Collaboration” is being presented by the Newburyport Art Association (NAA). The season will be opened with a month of events celebrating writers and artists.
One exhibit is in the Sargent and Hartson galleries. Titled “Line Work,” it highlights how lines divide, connect, map, redact, guide, reveal, and express, and form the contours of a drawing. This exhibit will feature how over 60 creative writers and visual artists explore the many avenues of a line.
“In House: The Newburyport Art Staff Show” is the second exhibit in the Hills Gallery. The work of the staff of the NAA is showcased in this exhibit that has over 40 pieces of multimedia, drawings, paintings, and photography. Among those whose work is being shown are Grace Sullivan, Belle Carver Struck, and AJ Simmons.
Coming up will be The Murphy Brothers Art Talk with a hands-on presentation by Bob and Brian Murphy of their contributions to the “Line Work” exhibit. They will discuss and share their creative process. This will be on Sunday, February 15 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. The following week, painter Christine Molitor Johnson and author Jane Ward will discuss influences, inspiration, and ideas in a program on Saturday, February 21 from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
Flyer printing can be used throughout a city to promote such new exhibits and unique talks.
