Special walk and run to be held in Marlborough

The Forrest Memorial Road Race will be returning to Marlborough for the 37th year later this month.

The event is named for a former councilor and firefighter, Jim Forrest. Proceeds from the event will go towards the programs of Thrive Support & Advocacy, an organization that nurtures and celebrates the abilities of people with developmental disabilities in Central Massachusetts, MetroWest, and beyond. The organization provides the resources, support, and space to enable these individuals and their families to thrive.

This race is the largest annual fundraiser for the non-profit. Poster printing is often used throughout a community to promote such special events.

A family event, participants can run or walk through five kilometers of general rolling terrain. The course will begin and end at the Wayside Athletic Club. Registration will begin at 9:30 am with the race beginning at 11:00 am. After the race there will be a cookout and party for all participants. The venue also offers an outdoor swimming pool for people of all ages, a playground, and other amenities inside the club.

The Forrest Memorial Road Race will take place on Sunday, September 26. The cost to participate is $25.
