A total 72 seniors from the Assabet Regional Vocational Technical High School in Marlborough have been awarded a John and Abigail Adams Scholarship.
Local Print shops often assist in spreading the word about scholarships like these with Posters, Flyers, and other printed materials.
The students who receive this scholarship have:
• a score in the advanced category in assessment tests in mathematics; the STEM subjects which include chemistry, biology, technology and engineering, and introduction to physics; and English
• a score in the advanced or proficient category on of the remaining two tests
• a combined score on these MCAS tests that is within the top quarter in their school district
The students who receive these scholarships will be able to attend state colleges and universities in Massachusetts for no tuition fee for all four years. Other requirements include maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 and completing their undergraduate program in four years or fewer.
Mark Hollick, principal of the high school, said that an Adams Scholarship is an important achievement for these students, who also work many hours in their career path in addition to their academic studies. He added that these students show by example what can be achieved with hard work.
Among the 21 students who won these awards and call Marlborough home are Regina Wilkie, Emanuel Gentile-Magoon, Eric Edwards, Thomas Healy, and Anthony Martinez.
