Registration up and running for 5K event

Next month will bring the Children’s Friend 5K to Worcester, and online registration for the event is now available. The event, called ‘Kick It Up for the Kids’, will benefit the organization Children’s Friend.

While the race is looking for registration from participants, it also is seeking volunteers for water stops, registration areas, and other tasks.

Participants are likely to come from Marlborough and other nearby towns, and those who raise funds of at least $25 will be eligible for both a free T-shirt and an entry into a raffle for a baseball, signed by player Mike Timlin. The top male and female runners will receive medals, and these will also be awarded to both the first and second place finishers in several age categories. Wine Vine, The Sole Proprietor, and Wooberry Frozen Yogurt are offering donations of food samples along the course, and Polar Beverages will be funding the water stops.

Children’s Friend is a non-profit organization that was founded in the 1830s. According to the organization’s website, it serves the most vulnerable children in the Rhode Island area. Those interested in either registering or volunteering should visit Children’s Friend website.

Some vendors at events like walk/runs choose to invest in custom banner printing to both advertise their wares and encourage the walkers and runners.

It has been scheduled for September 27. Registration on the day of the event will begin at 9:00 am, and the walk/run itself will start an hour later.
