New Marlborough mayor outlines city plans

J. Christian Dumais is now the new mayor of Marlborough, and has already revealed some of his upcoming plans for the city.

Dumais was recently inaugurated at the Whitcomb Middle School at a ceremony attended by members of the School Committee and City Council, Lieutenant Governor Kim Driscoll, state Representative Danielle Gregoire, and former mayor Ed Gadbois. Dumais is the 44th mayor of the city.

In his first 30 days, Dumais plans to hire an executive administrator to help with resident services. He is also planning a mobile mayor’s office that will travel around the city to provide up-to-date information for residents who cannot easily access City Hall.

Local Print shops can assist with spreading the news about such events throughout a city with Flyers, Posters, and other printed materials.

Next month, the mayor plans to start a monthly newsletter, and to ensure that the municipal website will be updated regularly. He will also start a monthly “chat and chew” breakfast meeting at the senior center, so that members of the mayor’s office can discuss issues which residents may have. He is also looking to put together a committee so that a fire station on the west side of the city can be built.

Finally, Dumais is also planning to work with the Chamber of Commerce and the Marlborough Economic Development Corporation to make a destination out of Main Street, and to bring back many traditional events in the community.
