Medical center benefits from generous donation

Tufts Medical Center recently received a donation of $5,000 that was raised by the HeartBrothers Foundation, a non-profit foundation located in Marlborough that is dedicated to helping people struggling with heart-related health problems.

The HeartBrothers Foundation was able to make the donation because of a successful fundraiser it threw at the Mike Gustin Memorial Golf Classic earlier last month. The founders of the HeartBrothers Foundation, Bob Romer and Pat Sullivan, both had to receive heart transplant surgery at Tufts Medical Center, which fueled their desire to start the foundation.

The Director of the Heart Failure and Cardiac Transplantation Center at Tufts Medical Center and the doctor who gave the heart transplant operation to both Romer and Sullivan, David DeNofrio, made this comment about the donation to the medical center:

“It’s amazing to receive this generous gift—especially because it comes from our very own heart transplant recipients… The HeartBrothers’ much-needed gift will help us support patients and their families through this challenging process. Many patients need assistance with travel and other expenses before and after their transplant and LVAD procedures.”
