What was once the home to the Sports Authority on Donald Lynch Boulevard in Marlborough will become the Advanced Thermal Barrier Center (ATBC) of Aspen Aerogels.
Aspen Aerogels is a leader of technology in electrification and sustainability solutions. Its products serve many kinds of industries, including e-mobility and energy industrial.
The space spans 58,965 square feet and will enable the company to focus on the introduction of new products in its line of PyroThin thermal barrier technology. These products are used in lithium-ion batteries that run electric vehicles. The company’s thermal barrier technology is designed to maximize the performance of lithium-ion batteries and optimize safety in electric vehicles. The space will also help provide support for its battery energy storage system and e-mobility customers.
Such expansions often require the need for Stationery printers, as corporate materials often need to be updated with new locations.
President and CEO of Aspen Aerogels, David Young, said growth in the market for electric vehicles has meant the company needed to find a facility that could be dedicated to product development, production, and customer support. He added that the facility is an ideal location as it provides easy access for recruiting talent, with many opportunities for expansion.
Aspen Aerogels expects to occupy the new space in the first quarter of 2023.
