Marlborough to gain new commercial and residential development

A large mixed-use development is being planned for the French Hill neighborhood in Marlborough.

The Alta development will be at the corner of Lincoln and Mechanic Streets, and will occupy an empty lot. The building will be between four and five stories in height, boasting commercial space on the first floor and 276 residential units in the rest of the building. There will also be 448 parking spaces. More information about such projects and their progress is often disseminated throughout the community with flyer printing.

The developer of the project is Wood Partners. The developer will also build a restroom facility and a parking lot of 22 spaces along the Assabet River Trail. Once completed, the city will take ownership of the property.

The signature development of Wood Partners is the Alta and it has many such developments in the region. There is the Alta Union House in Framingham and Alta Oxbow will soon open in Wayland along Route 20 along with another development in Worcester.

The Urban Affairs of the Marlborough City Council voted last month to send the project to the full city Council for a vote. The members of the subcommittee then voted to place the project on the agenda of the full City Council for a vote at their next meeting on Monday, July 25.
