Marlborough reopens funding program

The Small Business Relief Grant Program of the Marlborough Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) is once again open to small businesses in the city.

An amount of up to $5,000 will be provided for expenses incurred as part of reopening since the middle of May. These funds can be used for personal protective equipment, retrofitting needed for safety and operational measures, and training or any other costs related to reopening efforts. Such grant programs can be promoted throughout a community using poster printing.

Businesses that are eligible for these funds are those with 25 or fewer employees that have experienced a disruption to their business. Money is awarded on a first come, first served basis, and will be given to businesses until the funds are exhausted.

Executive Director of the MEDC, Meredith Harris, expressed her excitement that small and local businesses can now be helped during such difficult times. Harris added that 25 businesses have already been helped through this program, and they included educational facilities, retailers, restaurants, and many other operations in the city.

Mayor of Marlborough, Arthur Vigeant, said he hopes that this additional funding will reduce the stress and pressure many local businesses are experiencing. He added that many have already taken advantage of these funds and so it was deemed important to reopen the program for the benefit of small businesses.
