The Marlborough Marriot Courtyard was the location of a recent event designed to bring employers and jobseekers together as part of a high-energy environment.
The Marlborough Works! Job Fair saw over
500 jobseekers come out to meet with representatives of 27 area companies, both large and small. They were seeking information about the more than 400 job openings on offer that day.
The number of positions was up 33% from last year, and four times high than its level was when the job fair was first held in 2012. The number of potential employees who came out was also up on previous the previous two years.
Some of the larger companies with recruiters on hand were Weetabix, GE Healthcare, San Disk, Boston Scientific, Marlborough Hospital, IPG Photonics, and Quest Diagnostics. There were also displays and personnel management people from several smaller area firms looking for high quality applicants.
There was no charge to attend the event, which was hosted jointly by the Marlborough Economic Development Corporation and Employment Training Resources. Representatives of these two groups expressed their pleasure with both the number of companies and well qualified jobseekers who chose to attend.
