Over 14 agencies came over to Whitcomb Middle School as well, including the substance abuse recovery program Teen Challenge who set up tables and Banners to urge students to end addiction.
James Wahlberg, who was present at each of the viewings, said:
“I’m grateful for the opportunity to create a project that informs, educates and leads viewers to recognize the warning Signs of opioid use and to participate in a solution.”
The film was shown to students in 7th, 8th, and 9th grade. After the movie, the students then talked with the speakers and the parents about the impact the movie made on them.
The mayor of Marlborough, Arthur Vigeant, added:
“I hope that those affected in any way by this epidemic will feel comfortable to come forward to receive help and support.”
The speakers that came to the schools included several important figures such as Dr. Arnold Hill, a police chief, Mark Leonard, and District Attorney Marian Ryan. Each of the speakers sought to educate the students and stress the point that it requires the help of the community in order to stop drug abuse.
