Presented by Penny Pritzker, the U.S. Secretary of Commerce, the Marlborough company received the President’s ‘E’ Award for Exports. The award was presented at a ceremony held in Washington, DC.
The ‘E’ awards, according to Woodworking Network, are the uppermost recognition that can be received by a U.S. organization to acknowledge a contribution made to the development of exports in American goods. No other Massachusetts companies received such an accolade this year
DMT president Mark Brandon said:
“We are honored to receive the “E” Award in recognition of our global sales and marketing efforts.
“Over the past five years—in addition to strong U.S. sales growth—DMT has expanded its export sales by an average of 18 percent per year and added 13 new ‘shipped-to’ countries.”
DMT was founded in 1976, initially using diamonds for sharpening and, according to a press release, was the first to commercialize such products to the marketplace. All DMT products are manufactured in its Massachusetts headquarters.
The ‘E’ Awards, referring to Second World War symbol of excellence, were first established in 1961 by President John F. Kennedy. Companies nominated demonstrate four years of export growth, as well as an innovative marketing plan internationally.
