The annual college internship program in Marlborough will be reinstated this summer.
This will be the ninth year of the program and is designed for college students. The program will focus on those projects in which students can work outdoors or where they can be socially distanced. All college students in the area who are enrolled in many courses of study are welcome to apply. College students from any city or town in the state who are interested in the program are encouraged to apply although preference will be given to residents of Marlborough. Poster printing is often used to promote such programs to students around a target area.
Arthur Vigeant, mayor of Marlborough, proposed this initiative in 2012 and the City Council has funded it each year. In the past eight years, over 80 college students have had the experience of real-world employment during the summer months.
The mayor said that internships have a key role in experience in the workplace and give students an advantage when they apply for jobs after college. He expressed his pride in the program and added that he is looking forward to the resumption of the program after a year’s hiatus. He is glad to be able to provide an opportunity to work with students and prepare them for successful careers.
Applications for the internships are due Friday April 30.
