Free library offers books in Marlborough

Marlborough Hospital has installed a Little Free Library on the front lawn of its campus on Union Street. There will be health and wellness materials stocked in the library that will be available for anyone to take home.

The hospital said that the reason for setting up this library is because there is a growing literacy crisis in the United States. The hospital cited that over 30 million adults in the United States cannot write or read above the level of a third grader. In addition, studies show that when children have Books, they can be most impactful on their literacy so that the more that there are Books in or near the home, the more likely it is that a child will learn to read and love the activity.

There will be Books stocked in Spanish, English, and Haitian Creole at its Little Free Library. Local Print shops can help spread the word about such free libraries with Flyers and other printed materials in appropriate languages.

Little Free Library is non-profit organization that is based in St. Paul, Minnesota.
