The city of Marlborough has found a person to fill the role of Fire Chief and, at a recent meeting of the City Council, he was introduced to the council members.
Geoffrey Herald was escorted to the meeting by the mayor, and was introduced to the members of council by their president, Trish Pope. He replaces the former Fire Chief Jim Fortin, who recently retired after completing 31 years in public service.
Herald takes on the position after serving as the Fire Chief in Danbury, Connecticut. He had been a member of the city's fire department as long ago as 1974, and had retired from his role as chief. Nevertheless, the experienced officer had still been involved in the field of firefighting as an instructor in fire science at his local community college.
The Mayor of Marlborough noted that he is pleased and confident with the choice of Herald to be the new chief, and feels that with his extensive experience and background, he will provide excellent service to the city.
