Downtown Marlborough gets new mixed-use project

A new mixed-use complex will be built in downtown Marlborough and will feature space for two office or retail spaces on the ground floor, four one-bedroom and 32 two-bedroom condominium units, and 29 parking spaces also on the ground floor.

City Councilor Joseph Delano commented that this will be a great project to encourage businesses and residents to visit and live in the Marlborough Village District. This area was rezoned in 2014 to alleviate the strict requirements for developers on building dimensions and parking.

The developer of project is Marilyn Green, owner of RE/MAX Signature Properties, who needs to make a mitigation payment of $140,000 to the city as the rezoning enables her to create 29 parking spaces instead of the previously required 43 spaces.

Green said the project will have an urban feel and look similar to the neighboring Main Street Bank. It will be 68 feet high and have a lighted clock tower. One of the office spaces on the first floor will be used for her real estate company. Although Green is unsure as to when construction will begin, she expects that it will take about one year to complete.

Banner printing companies can be hired to create displays in such downtown areas so that people learn more about projects, their amenities, and benefits for the city.
