Airport in Marlborough to become industrial park

Capital Group Properties will be converting the former Marlborough Airport into an industrial park. The property, which is 20 acres in size, will be known as Airport Industrial Park.

Project developer for Capital Group, Robert DiPetri, said that the airport hangars have been removed and the road going into the Park will soon be built. There will be about 15 lots of different sizes from a half acre to two acres that will be sold to companies, at which point they can construct their buildings. Construction equipment is already on the site. The Capital Group will maintain the road and the landscaping, but individual businesses will be responsible for the maintenance of their own properties.

DiPetri said that manufacturing and fitness-related businesses have expressed interest in the Park. Once agreements are finalized early in the year, Capital Group Properties will make an announcement regarding the businesses that will come to the Park. Banner printing is often used at such sites to keep the community informed of their status.

Sandy Stetson sold the property to Capital Group just over a year ago for $2.25m. The original plan was to build a retirement village of 114 units, but the decision was made to develop an industrial park as the property is already zoned as limited industrial, and therefore avoided a zoning change.
