Malden opens expanded park in downtown area
The newly expanded Fitzgerald Park in Malden is now open.
The project to expand the park added a bright play structure shaped like a dinosaur, increased the play area in the park, and added new benches and tables, interactive play panels, more landscaping and trees, a sidewalk that is painted, and a new fence.
More details about such improvements and their benefits for everyone can be included in flyer printing services.
Mayor Gary Christenson said that the park was already a gem in the downtown area and these improvements will make it an even more welcoming and vibrant place in the city. The park is located on the northern side of the CBD Garage. Daycare centers nearby and families enjoy the park as well as visitors and residents who are attracted to its vibrant mural.
The landscape architect for the park was Shadley Associates while JAM Corporation was the general contractor and completed the construction.
The Office of Strategic Planning and Community Development (OSPCD) of the city of Malden administered the project. Funding for the project included $175,000 in funding from the Community Preservation Act and $200,000 from the funds of the city’s Community Development Block Grant. The cost for the design work was covered by John Preotle of Preotle, Lane & Associates, a longtime steward of the park.
