A new restaurant with an international flair is now open in downtown Fall River.
Owned by Mark Dennis, a professional Portuguese pop and rock singer, the restaurant will be called either Dining at the Cultural Center or 201 Dining at the Cultural Center, as it is located on 201 Main Street. Such restaurants often use Promotional Products to attract the community to a new and unique establishment.
The head chef is Octavio Gomes, who was born in Cape Verde. Gomes plans to have Asian, American, Italian, French, and Portuguese influences in his food. Among the popular dishes at the restaurant are chicken Mozambique, lobster-stuffed Portobello, calamari, and Gomes’ signature pork entrée known as The Dish, which is a center cut pork chop, weighing in at 16 ounces, with fresh raspberries as a garnish and a raspberry demi-glaze. Also on the menu are chicken and steak sandwiches and burgers, as well as several chicken and fish dishes. Dennis hired Jesse Ferreira, a friend from his childhood, to manage the restaurant.
The restaurant is in what was once Berta’s Restaurant Tapas & Bar, which has moved to East Providence. It has two dining rooms that are interconnected and have separate entrances. Dennis said that this enables him to have private parties on one side that will not interfere with the operations of the restaurant.
