The Little Theatre of Fall River will be performing ‘The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940’ by John Bishop. It will be in Fall River at the Jackson Performing Arts at Bristol Community College.
According to the director of the show, Bob Gillet, who has also produced the show before, audiences enjoy the event. He describes as a “backstage comedy-thriller” with overtones from Hollywood. He also notes that it appeals to both younger and older audiences as the movie performers from the 1940s mentioned in the show will be remembered by the older audiences, and the “nonsense”, as he puts it, will be enjoyed by the younger folks.
He added that one of the interesting features of the show is that there are two songs for which the author wrote lyrics but provide no music, so every company that does this show has to create their own. Al Deston will be writing all the music for this showing, including the songs, the opening, and the intermission.
Bay Coast Bank is the official sponsor of the show and it is produced by special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc.
The show will be performed from March 19 to 22, with shows each night at 7:30 pm and a matinee on Sunday at 2:00 pm. The Little Theatre may be turning to poster printing to generate awareness and enthusiasm in the community for the show and attract a wide audience.
