Fall River student given fellowship

Felisa Ojadi-Kedigui, a student graduating from Bristol Community College (BCC) in Fall River, has been named a Newman Civic Fellow by Campus Compact. This is a non-profit organization based in Boston that works to advance the mission of public higher education.

Announcements of such special honors and their meaning for a college are often made known throughout the college community with poster printing.

The Newman Civic fellowship is a program that lasts for one year and is for students from institutions that are members of Campus Compact. The students in the program are selected for their leadership on campus and are committed to finding solutions to the challenges communities face on a local, national, and international level.

Ojadi-Kedigui is vice president of the Student Senate at BCC and serves as the Diversity Leader of the Multicultural Student Center at BCC. She volunteers at BCC’s Mobile Food Market and is a Residential Counselor for a youth program in Fall River, both of which are examples of where she supports her community. She will earn an associate degree in science in early childhood education this spring and will continue her education so she can eventually work with the United Nations.

The fellowship is named after the late Frank Newman, one of the founders of Campus Compact, and provides many virtual networking and training opportunities that focus on civic, professional, and personal growth.
