The Children’s Museum of Greater Fall River (CMGFR) will be re-opening to the public later this month. Jo-Anne Sbrega, executive director of the museum, said that there will be many exciting and new adventures for children and their parents when it opens.
Sbrega said the first is a new outdoor playground. It will have giant musical instruments for the younger children and a new story walk. The story walk has 16 stations where grandparents or parents can take their children to read a book, going from station by station. The large musical instruments which will include a drum, a xylophone, giant chimes, and musical flowers, will enable children to demonstrate their musical skills. Other features include a playhouse, a picnic space with castles, and a climbing area for toddlers.
Other exhibits have been rearranged or updated in the museum. The Space Station, for example, now has a new vibe with its colorful changing lights. Such updates and new features are often promoted throughout a community with poster printing.
The CMGFR uses its public collection to promote research and education. It is funded primarily through donations, fundraisers, memberships, and ticket sales.
The museum will open on Wednesday, July 29. Hours will be from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm on Wednesdays through Fridays and from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm on Saturdays. Parents are encouraged to call ahead to reserve a time for their visit.
