Advocacy agency to construct new building in Fall River

A capital campaign to raise $2.5 million has been launched by the Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC) of Bristol County located in Fall River.

The CAC needs a new and larger home as over the past 10 years it has experienced a 168 increase in the number of cases it handles and has outgrown its current facility. To accommodate this increase in cases it has expanded prevention and treatment services and hired more staff.

Having a new building will enable the agency to expand the services it offers for families and children who have experience various kinds of personal abuse and violence and problems with drugs.

To help launch the campaign Bristol County Savings Bank has contributed a grant of $250,000. Poster printing can be used throughout the community to raise awareness about such a project and fundraising efforts.

Associate executive director of Advancement and Operations, Lara Stone, said the location of the new building has not yet been determined but funding has been received to conduct a feasibility study. The agency plans to stay in the Greater Fall River area.

Executive director of the CAC, Michelle Loranger, added that a new facility is needed to accommodate those who have experienced abuse and trauma in the community. Expansion is necessary so the agency can better support the families and children it helps with the services they need.
