Vacant seat of Orland School District Board of Education has been filled

Orland Park in Orland School District 135 has a new member on its Board of Education.

At a recent special meeting, Dahoud (Dave) Shalabi was chosen to take a seat on the board. He was selected from among three possible candidates who had answered a request seeking new members to feel a two-year unexpired term opening that had been issued back in June.

Each of those who applied had a one-on-one interview with the organization, and it was felt that he was the best choice to fill the vacant seat. Shalabi has lived in the local area all of his life and had attended all three levels of public school there. He is currently working as a real estate broker with Remax, and has three small children, one of whom goes to school in Orland Park.

He noted that he is very proud and feels that it is a great honor to have been picked to serve his community in this capacity on the Board of Education, adding that he feels privileged to be able to do so.
