June fundraiser to keep shelter secure

The Shindig at the Shelter is taking place this June in Chicago Ridge. It is a fundraiser for the Animal Welfare League, which runs two shelters in the Chicago area.

There are set to be all sorts of family friendly activities at the event, including children's games and art activities, a bake sale, a DJ, raffles, food, and refreshments. Visitors can also take tours of the shelter, get their pets microchipped for a discount price, or even meet and adopt a new pet. The event will also include the Blessing of the Animals in the afternoon.

There will be commercial and pet vendors on hand, together with a variety of arts and crafts. Vendors can rent space for $25 plus a donation to the raffle, although they must provide their own tables and chairs. Organizers are still accepting vendors, but the deadline to apply is June 6.

The events will no doubt attract animal lovers from all over the area, including Orland Park. It is not uncommon for printing companies in the area to donate services such as poster and flyer printing to help advertise charitable events.

The Shindig at the Shelter will take place at the Animal Welfare League in Chicago Ridge on June 22 from noon until 5:00 pm. Admission is free. To find out more, or to become a vendor, call 708-636-8586 x268.
