The Orland Park professional dance education center has been awarded a grant worth $17,000 that will be used to support its operations between the end of 2020 and August 2021. The dance company’s mission is telling stories in the form of dance and it prides itself on how it gives back to the communities through entertainment and education. Corporate Gifts and donations are effective ways of supporting local organizations like this one.
The dance studio’s mantra is “limitation sparks creativity” and the Artistic Director Julianna Rubio Slager pointed out how the company practices what it preaches. She said:
“We can’t perform in theaters – let’s perform online, outside, in more non-traditional spaces that can be socially distanced.”
Slager also pointed out that Ballet 5:8 is eternally grateful to the IACA ad all of the people across the state who are making this season a possibility despite the challenges posed by the pandemic. The company is used to performing in theaters across the country, but its current live shows are limited to the state of Illinois.
Along with the performance season, the company is also running three distinct online programs that are open to international audiences.
