A late January event will show Orland Park residents how to get started with a fun hobby that also serves as a way to correspond with others or embellish art pieces.
New Years Beginners Calligraphy Workshop is an activity that teaches the art and allows people to pick up a skill. With fluid motions and small flicks of the wrist, this method of hand lettering adds a more human element to items where it is applied.
Sip & Script (S&S) is a company that takes the “paint and sip” concept and brings a different craft to it, instead of the traditional painting. An individual skilled in calligraphy will lead the attendees through the techniques needed to get a handle on writing with a looser ink and pen. The materials needed will be given out by the instructor, and everyone will be able to keep them. These include the ink, dipping pen nibs, tracing paper, letter guide sheets, and a pen holder.
The venue is Hailstorm Brewing, located in Tinley Park. Adults are welcome to bring kids but are advised that alcohol will be served. Tickets are on S&S’s site for $70. Companies commonly use the promotion method of flyer printing, as it is an easy way to share their events.
Guests can enjoy the afternoon lesson from 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm on Sunday, January 21.
