The 10th Annual Walk of Love, a yearly event hosted by the Heartland Animal Shelter, is now less than a week away.
Participants walk 2K at their own pace before having breakfast and enjoying other activities, such as the pools for the dogs, photo opportunities, vendors, and prizes. Admission is $25 for pre-registration and $30 regular. Registering as a family of four participants or fewer is $75 for pre-registration or $80 regular.
Anyone can attend even if they do not have a canine companion. Proceeds go toward the Heartland Animal Shelter. Participants can also be a part of the Heartland's Furry Love 2016 Team and raise money before the walk.
Heartland Animal Shelter is a 501(c)3 no-kill shelter that serves Glendale and the surrounding area like Highland Park and Deerfield. It finds homes for the animals put in its care while tending to their medical needs, safety, training, and attention. It also promotes spay/neuter efforts through teaching the public the effects of pet overpopulation. One of the animals available is Tazzy, a one-year-old male brown tabby who is full of energy and has a loud purr. Donations are tax deductible.
Promotional Products and merchandise to sell at the event or online can increase the amount raised for the shelter. Attendees can buy them as a souvenir for themselves and their dogs.
The walk will take place on Saturday, July 16, starting at 9:30 am at Blue Star Memorial Forest Preserve.
