Deerfield’s beloved annual 4th of July celebration weekend is returning this year with even more activities and entertainment to honor the 250th anniversary of this country’s founding.
The events will begin on Friday with the opener band Totally Taylor, followed by the Raising of the Flag by Deerfield American Legion Post 738 and recitation of the National Anthem and the mayor’s welcome. The evening will include children’s activities, pay-as-you-go carnival games, the headlining band Blooze Brothers’ performance, and a fireworks display. A poster competition is also including, with people invited to drop off patriotic Posters at Italian Kitchen by midday on July 3.
Saturday’s festivities will begin with the Deerfield Rotary 5K Race, followed by the Deerfield Lions Club Breakfast in the Park. Throughout the day, attendees will enjoy an arts and crafts fair, bike parade, dog show, amusement rides and inflatables, and more carnival games. The Independence Day Parade will begin at noon, and the pie-eating contest will start at 2:00 pm.
