The Deerfield Library has virtual winter holiday activities planned for families with young children.
Families are invited to create cork and wooden block ornaments at the library Upcycled event. The supplied kits will also include wire and other decorative items such as buttons and beads. It offers a way to recycle old pieces of wood, toys, and wine bottle corks.
Ornaments can go on the family tree or be a gift for a loved one. Participants must provide an email at registration. The event will be on Zoom and families will pick up the kits.
The Snow Queen will join children virtually for story time at the library. There will be stories, games, and singing. Her royal winter majesty will also read out children's comments using their names, which parents should be sure to include with their video comment.
Children will have a chance to earn a personal call from the Snow Queen with the Diamond Package from Parties with Character. This will take place directly after story time. Families can also listen to and interact on Facebook, details of which will be on the social media site around one week before the date.
The Upcycled holiday ornaments will be made on December 5 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, while the Snow Queen will join the library on December 10 from 11:00 am to 11:30 am.
