The Heller Nature Center will host the Break Cabin Fever event in early February for those in the Highland Park and Deerfield area wanting to break themselves out of the monotonous winter days.
The Heller Nature Center spans 97 acres of oak-hickory forest, oak savannah, tallgrass prairie, natural wetlands, and three miles of nature trails. It also provides enriching nature programs, seasonal nature excursions, and special events such as this one.
Against the snowy backdrop of the Illinois winter, attendees may enjoy a variety of fun games and activities outdoors. There will be meet-and-greets with the outreach animals that call the center home, as well as science demos by the staff. Arts and crafts booths will also be set up for those interested in a creative activity. If the snowfall is four inches deep or more, cross-country skiing along the nature trails will also be available.
