Independence Day celebrations confirmed in Deerfield area

Deerfield and nearby communities in the North Shore of Chicago have announced plans for Independence Day 2018.

On July 3, Brickyards Park will hold the 55th yearly Family Days of Deerfield. The gates open at 5:00 pm, live entertainment starts at 6:00 pm, and at 7:00 pm sees the singing of the National Anthem and raising of the flag. Fireworks are set to start after 9:00 pm when the sun goes down.

The next day, the town will offer family friendly activities from 8:00 am until 3:00 pm at Jewett Park. They include a pancake breakfast, a sale for arts and crafts, a rotary race, a bike parade, a dog show, a flower show, a petting zoo, pony rides, a parade ride, and games. Registration for the rotary races starts at 7:00 am, and participants in the dog show must bring their own dog.

Also on July 4, Highland Park has planned a themed celebration titled ‘Your Vote Counts!’ to recognize 90 years of the Women Voters League. There will be a parade starting at 10 before Fourth Fest starts in Sunset Park. There will be rides, food, and family activities. At 4:00 pm is the Bitter Jester Music Festival in Wolters Field, followed by fireworks at 9:30pm.

Awards for the competitions such as the dog show or the rotary race could be Promotional Products commemorating the Independence Day events. These products could also be for sale.
