Flea market caters to kid vendors

The Deerfield Park District is hosting a flea market for kids at the Jewett Park Community Center next month.

Children in kindergarten through Grade 8 are invited to participate in a flea market just for children. They can bring old toys, trading cards, Books, games, stuffed plushies, sports gear, and decorations to sell.

Bikes and baby items are not allowed. Children may sell baked goods such as cookies and cupcakes, but they must be wrapped as separate items. They may wish to create a unique Logo Design to sell any goods they make themselves.

All items must contain all of their parts and be in satisfactory condition. The merchandise condition is not the responsibility of the park district.

Kids will give a price to each item and sell them, and they must be responsible for their table. Parents can watch but may not participate in selling. Guests are allowed to haggle and encouraged to do so for fun.

The community center is located at 836 Jewett Park Drive. More information is available on the Deerfield Parks website. Interested parties can also contact the Jewett Park Community Center by phone at 847-945-0650. The Park District is available on social media through Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.

A six-foot table costs $5 while an eight-foot table is $10. Kids can start preparing their tables at noon on February 29. The market opens at 1:00 pm and closes at 3:00 pm.
