Deerfield business owners planning for the future should note that the Building a Sustainable Enterprise: How to Plan for the Future Without Ready Now or Ready Soon Successors will take place next month.
The host, Meghan Juday, is a family business advocate and Chairman of the Board at IDEAL Industries and has extensive knowledge of what makes family businesses continue to thrive for generations. She has made it her mission to share this valuable knowledge with other family businesses.
The talk will delve into what makes a business a sustainable enterprise even without a guaranteed successor in the family. Most generational businesses try to find a “ready or ready soon” successor as the years wear on, but some businesses find that such a successor does not exist. In the workshop, Juday will go over an alternative to this, which is the role of Stewardship. Having a strong corporate board and a family governance process that leans on the concept of Stewardship allows outside leaders to take the helm while also maintaining the proper oversight.
