Next month, Deerfield residents are invited to participate in the 2022 Virtual Esophageal Cancer Walk/Run to raise money for esophageal cancer research.
The Salgi Esophageal Cancer Research Foundation will host the run/walk, which will also be open to anyone around the world that wants to attend virtually. The Salgi Foundation is a non-profit that works to raise awareness of esophageal cancer, help improve early detection, and raise money for further research.
As the events will be virtual, participants can choose to run, walk, bicycle, or even skateboard any distance at any speed they wish. Organizers request that attendees follow any COVID-19 guidelines in place while participating.
There will be two ticket options available. The T-shirt ticket option will be $30 to participate in the virtual event and receive a T-shirt with the event Logo Design. The virtual ticket option will be $20 for access to only the virtual event and no T-shirt. Those who cannot participate but wish to support the event’s cause can donate money to support individual or team fundraisers, make an in-kind donation, create a custom fundraising page, or become an official event sponsor. More information about these options can be found on the event page listing on Patch.
The virtual run/walk will take place on Saturday, June 18 or Sunday, June 19 at the discretion of the participant.
