Residents of Deerfield are invited to celebrate Independence Day by participating in the annual Bike Parade and Dog Show. Both events will be held in the morning on Sunday, July 4.
The Deerfield Family Day’s Annual Bike Parade will begin at 9:00 AM at the parking lot on Rosemary Road. Participants are asked to show their community pride by decorating their bicycles in advance. Awards will only be given exclusively to children, for the top three bicycles at the event in two categories, including ages five and under, and ages six and older. Each rider will receive a gift bag filled with Promotional Products, and a participation ribbon.
There will be a police escort for the parade, starting at the intersection of Terrace Road and Deerfield Road and ending at Jewett Park. Additional information is available by contacting Michael and Angie Butera by calling (847) 945-1227 or by email: ambutera@gmail.com.
The Family Days Dog Show will hold its 36th annual event, starting at 8:45 AM at Jewett Park. Dog owners are not required to register in advance, to enter their pet into the competition. Ribbons will be awarded for the first, second, and third place winners in a variety of categories, including the tallest dog, the shortest dog, the longest tail, and the shortest tail. Other fun-filled categories include the best tricks, the most obedient dog, the dog that most resembles its’ owner, and the best Independence Day costume. This beloved event is organized each year by Howard Wolff and Herb Isaacs.
Both of the July 4th Family Days events are being held free of charge for residents of Deerfield.
