Deerfield pool hosts trio of events

Mitchell Pool in Deerfield has three family-friendly events in store as summer swim season approaches.

The Coho Swim Club is sponsoring the Tinman Triathlon. Novices and experts alike, ages eight and over, can participant in this event. It incorporates the neighborhood around the pool and consists of 300 meters of swimming, a bike ride for six miles, and three minutes of running. The estimated time of each triathlete will determine in what order they will partake in that portion.

Interested participants can sign up online or at the registration desk of the Jewett Park Community Center. The cost to pre-register is $40 for residents and $45 for non-residents. Pre-registration ends on June 3.

After that date, participants must do on-site registration for $45 for members and $50 for nonresidents. Registration includes a shirt, snacks, and a race packet. The triathlon also requires a waiver to participate.

Mitchell Pool will host a special night for students of District 109 and their family members. The cost to attend is $4 and regular pool passes will not be accepted. Students can bring inflatables and pool noodles.

The pool will also show a movie as part of its Dive in Theater event. Coldwell Banker and Alan Berlow are sponsoring the event. The movie will start when the sun goes down. The entry cost is $4 and pool passes will not be accepted.

The triathlon will be on June 6, from 7:00 am to 11:00 am. The special District 109 night at the pool is June 12, 7:30 pm to 10:30 pm. Drive in Theater is on June 27 starting at 7:30 pm and is expected to end at 10:30 pm.

Mitchell Pool is located at 951 Wilmot Road. Flyer printing lets the community know about events at residential amenities like pools.
