On May 7, Deerfield national insurance company Alera Group disclosed that it had bought Los Angeles Shomer Insurance Agency on May 1.
Representatives did not disclose the specifics of the agreement, but said that Helfer & Associates advised Shomer on it.
Shomer's risk management and insurance clients are based all over California. The company specializes in designing programs for facilities that care for individuals on a long-term basis, such as home healthcare, nursing homes, and independent and assisted living facilities.
Alera Group CEO Alan Levitz expressed excitement in acquiring Shomer because its leaders Ari Baer and Joseph Schneerson have made it an exceptional risk management supplier for care providers. He believes its experience and skill will help Alera Group grow and become better known, and he welcomed Baer and Schneerson to the company.
Schneerson is a Shomer Managing Partner and Baer is the Vice President. Both shared their excitement of the merge but assured that the company would still exist and maintain the quality standards for which it is known. Employees of Shomer will work at the same locations under the same name but with an additional Alera Group title.
Alera Group started in 2017 and has become the country's number one independent insurance firm with thousands of customers in the United States. The 15th-biggest firm with private holdings in the nation, it covers property and casualty, wealth management, risk management, and employee benefits.
