Last week, District 109 of Deerfield Public Schools hosted presentations on Chromebooks, which will be implemented into classrooms this year.
Around half of the community with school-aged children came to learn about the new technology on August 27. A presentation took place at every school in the district, at which members of the school system demonstrated the new electronic device program to the community.
The school board tested using the technology in a selection of classes from third through eighth grade. Second grade and under were given an iPad.
Caruso Middle School seventh grade teacher Suzanne Molloy implemented her Chromebook as part of a lesson in poetry. She and parent Ronna Penn praised the technology for improving the learning of students.
Two of the main concerns parents brought to the presentation were the absence of keyboarding skills in students and how new technology affects their social skills. Presenters said there would be an app for keyboarding and that the students will still communicate face-to-face. With the Chromebooks, parents can see their children's assignments and grades, while also having the ability block unsuitable sites.
Printing companies are moving with technological developments, with many of them making their printed products digitally available on devices such as Chromebooks and iPads. Digital Business Cards are one example of physical and online media supporting one another.Get a Free Quote for Business Cards
