Celebrity judges raise toast to local winner

Ryan Abramson of Deerfield has been named the winner of ‘On the Menu’, a reality cooking show on TNT.

The victor was announced on October 3, and the restaurant chain Denny's will be taking on his apple Danish-stuffed French toast dish for its menu for six months. He will also receive a $25,000 gift prize and a donation in his name for the same amount to No Kid Hungry.

Celebrity chefs Emeril Lagasse, Ty Pennington, and top Denny's executives judged everyone's dishes. Abramson stated that it was great to have a big name like Emeril on the show trying his dish.

Abramson admits that he had always wanted to be on television and, when the opportunity came for On the Menu, he went through an audition and several interviews before being accepted. During the first trial, all of the contestants made egg dishes, but Abramson decided to make his winning French toast since he felt it was something that would fit Denny's menu better. He also served it in the final round along with hash made from chorizo.
