Runners band together to complete marathon

Runners in Peachtree City have the chance to compete with a team in a relay race.

The 5th Annual 2015 Peachtree Marathon Relay will allow teams of four to work together to complete a marathon.

Each person on a team will run a different 10K loop. These combine to make up the distance of a marathon. Teams will be made up of individuals with different running abilities. In addition, teams will run a ‘prologue’ and a ‘finale’ distance together.

The start and finish line will be at Shakerag Knoll. The course will go along mostly tree-lined paths in Peachtree City. No doubt the event organizers have contacted a Print company to make up course maps to hand out to runners.

After the race, there will be food, drinks, music, and fun activities at the post-race celebration. Awards will be given to the top three teams, along with the top runners for each route.

Due to donations, the race is free. However, participants still need to register online. During the registration process, individuals will need to estimate their 10K time so they can be put on an appropriate team. Participants should be able to complete a 10K in under 90 minutes. Registration closes on May 31 at noon.

The relay kicks off on June 6 at 7:00 am, with check-in starting at 6:30 am. Shakerag Knoll is located on 192 McIntosh Trail.
