Documents sourced from the city’s planning commission, indicate that Peachtree City is looking to put new parking rules in place for non-traditional vehicles, specifically golf carts. Included in the community’s updated regulations would be off-street parking rules for other vehicles as well, with the objective of reflecting evolving transportation modes, advancing practices, and parking demands.
Flyer printing services offer an affordable way for cities to inform residents of changes to local regulations.
If the updated regulations pass, it will be necessary for developers here to adjust how parking spaces are planned at new buildings and facilities. Among the proposed changes, one options developers can take advantage of is substituting five traditional parking spaces for the same number of golf cart spaces. Should the regular parking spots be substituted with golf cart-designed spaces, those spaces have to be immediately next to handicap parking spots and are required to include the appropriate signage.
According to city staff analysis:
“The proposed revisions will address appropriate placement, minimum standards, and compatibility with existing parking layouts to ensure safety, accessibility, and functional integration within development sites.”
Plus, a revision of zoning codes was requested by council for the inclusion of bicycle parking and racks in proximity to all golf cart parking spots.
A vote on the updates will take place at council’s March 23 meeting.
