The Hawaiian Run Thingy is being held next month in Peachtree City. It is a fundraising event for AVPride.
Everyone who participates is encouraged to wear a Hawaiian shirt or grass skirt. There will be several prizes for costumes in categories such as craziest Hawaiian shirt, most creative, family theme, and cutest costume.
The race has four separate components: a 5K (which costs $45 until March 19 and $50 after), the 10K ($50), a one-mile fun run ($20), and a 50-yard wheelchair roll ($20). All racers will receive a race bag, T-shirt, and barbecue meal. Participants can pick up their packages at Old Fayette Middle School from 3:30 pm - 7:00 pm.
In addition to the race, there is a whole afternoon of activities for the entire family. These include hula dance lessons, karaoke, limbo, and acting workshops from Woodruff Arts Center. There will also be trike races, a bouncy house, live tropical birds, and a barbecue. This is an accessible event and is set to feature the Special Needs Accommodation Zone (SNAZ).
Registration Forms for the races may have been provided by Peachtree City Stationery printers.
The Hawaiian Run Thingy will take place at Shakerag Knoll at the McIntosh Trail Recreation Complex on April 16 from 4:00 pm - 8:30 pm. To learn more about participating in this event, call 770-716-2797.
