An Atlanta developer has hopes of building a 175-apartment complex adjacent to the Crown Plaza conference center in Peachtree City but first the property must be rezoned.
Nine years ago, a rezone proposal was rejected for a Great Wolf Lodge water park on the property and until now there have been no other rezoning applications filed.
The proposed apartment complex would feature 3-story buildings on the site’s western side, which is now home to 14 acres of woods and will include commercial areas as well. Strada, the company filing the papers also indicated that the hotel and conference center on the remaining 23 acres would remain and be refurbished.

According to the rezoning application, no neighboring properties should be adversely impacted as terraced retaining walls coupled with dense landscaping will hide the facility from the adjacent multi-use pathway to the west and a more than adequate landscape buffer will hide the 3-story residential units and parking from houses to its North.
As it is a retirement community being built, the local school system should in no way be impacted. Increased traffic will be minimal as seniors drive less, particularly during peak traffic periods. As residents will primarily come from neighborhoods within Peachtree City, the community will be unlikely to have any substantial effect on EMS services as well.
The timeline for the project is 18 months to be completed in a single phase.
