What's Happening in Peachtree City, GA…

Old Peachtree City restaurant to become J. Alexander

The former Smokey Bones restaurant building is slated to be transformed in a J. Alexander’s with support for the project being given by the city’s Planning Commission at its July 28 meeting.

A proposal detailing a series of upgrades to the exterior of the building at 100 Market Place Boulevard was submitted by Fusion AE an architecture and engineering firm. Included in the plans were a fresh stone veneer designed to show off architectural features, a redesigned entrance and updated brick finishes and canopy.

The aim of the renovations is to create a clean, contemporary look and feel while bringing it in line with the city’s design standards.

Peachtree City has a primary materials requirement of 80 percent which unfortunately the front façade will fail to meet being only projected to be 77 percent. The city, however, is willing to overlook this as all other exterior sides will be 100 percent primary materials and the architectural detailing throughout the design is consistent.

Details concerning the exterior finishes for the renovations include repainted black brick, soft white EIFS and Texas Cream stone with copper-toned metal canopies. Details concerning the J. Alexander’s signage will be reviewed later at a separate permit process.

Local print shops can provide both interior and exterior signage.

A contemporary American restaurant, J. Alexander’s is noted for its wood-fired cuisine, which if all goes according to plan, it will be bringing to one of the city’s most prominent commercial areas.
