Peachtree City workshop to help build better caregivers

Today’s longer life expectances can mean an adult son or daughter is asked to take on a caregiver role for an elderly or ailing parent. An upcoming Peachtree City workshop can help to make sure a situation like this works for both the caregiver and the individual who needs additional support.

During the ‘Caring for Ailing and Aging Parents’ session, a group of learners will be given tools that can help them ensure that they are in a good position to care for their father, mother, or other adult they look after. It will explore this type of situation from various angles, and the goal is for each of the participants to create a caregiving situation that both meets the needs of the individual they care for and takes their own into account as well.

The four-hour long workshop will address the physical, emotional and financial toll of caring for an older adult, and it will also offer strategies to help successfully navigate the situation. The learners will also receive information about resources that exist in the community that they can call upon if needed, and the facilitator for the session will be Dr. Michael Lee Cook, LMFT.

The organizers of this type of function may wish to prepare Presentation Folders ahead of time. A printing services provider can supply these, and they can be filled with Brochures and other publications that the participants can refer to in the future.

The date for the ‘Caring for Aging and Ailing Parents’ learning opportunity will be August 24. It is scheduled to be held at 316 North Peachtree Parkway.
