Peachtree City’s Line Creek Nature Area is an oasis of green right in the heart of the city, and this summer, local kids will be able to explore the area and get to know some of its inhabitants.
The Southern Conservation Trust will be hosting its Water, Insects, Leaves and Dirt camp (Camp WILD), which will include lots of outdoor activities for children ages 6 to 12. The campers will spend the five days of the event engaging in environmentally based activities while they meet new friends and have fun.
The camp’s environmental education leaders will guide the kids through an exploration of the creek and the plants and animals that call it home. They will also walk the hiking trails, discover its granite outcroppings, and learn how they came to be there. Arts, crafts and many other activities that form part of a traditional camp experience will also be included.
The fun will be held in the nature area, which is a 60-acre site located in Peachtree City. Print shops can supply branded T-Shirts and other clothing for the leaders, and the campers for whom they will be responsible, during an event like this.
Camp WILD will run from June 18 until 22. Anyone who has questions or would like to find out how they can register a child to take part has been asked to contact the organizers at camp@sctlandtrust.org.
