Although the bulk of the money ($11.4m) is designated for the Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport, $1.76m will go to Albany’s Southwest Georgia Regional Airport, and six other smaller airports will receive a share, including the Peachtree City-based Atlanta Regional Falcon Field.
City chambers of commerce often use printing services to place Brochures at local airports, promoting the various points of interest and businesses within the city.
Explaining the importance of the funding, Senator Ossoff said:
"Georgia’s airports are a key driver of job creation and economic competitiveness. Our bipartisan infrastructure law will continue to deliver long-overdue upgrades to Georgia’s infrastructure for years to come."
The money for the Savannah/Hilton Head airport will be used for road construction, taxiway upgrades, expanded apron space, and planning studies, while the regional airport in Albany will be using its funds for taxiway and pavement upgrades. The six smaller airports will receive anywhere from $110,000 to $201,744 for runway infrastructure projects.
The Atlanta Regional Falcon Field will receive $162,710 from this latest round of grants, which is part of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law that is anticipated to spread $619m in airport funding across the state.
